Dog Surrender Form

If you must surrender your dog, please complete and submit this Dog Surrender Profile form, including the appointment request. If you have multiple dogs please fill out a form for each dog to ensure that we can schedule them for the same time. You can request a specific date but we cannot guarantee that we have an available appointment for that day. We will do our best to accommodate to your schedule. When the York County SPCA receives your form, we will contact you to set up your appointment.

The cost to surrender a dog is $50. The goal of the York County SPCA is to find a home for every adoptable animal. Therefore, we are unable to accept dogs with serious aggressive behavior or untreatable medical conditions.

If you are experiencing a financial hardship and are unable to afford our surrender fee, please speak with a member of our management team. We are happy to work with you in any way we can.

Please understand that while we make every effort to find placement for all animals coming into the York County SPCA, we are an open admission shelter and cannot make any guarantee your animal will be adopted. Unfortunately, there are times we may have to make the difficult decision to humanely euthanize animals in our care. By signing your animal over to us, the York County SPCA becomes the legal owner and we will not release the disposition of any animals in our care. Type your name in the box below and select the date to indicate your agreement with our policy and sign your dog over to the York County SPCA.
